School!

Life just got a little easier for me around here with these two munchkins starting school!  Drew is now in the 4-year-old class and Susanna is in the 3-year-old class.  They weren't too excited the night before school started, at least Drew wasn't, and he was trying to convince Susanna she wasn't either, but once morning rolled around, Drew said to me "I can't wait to go to school and show them Susanna!"  He kept telling her that they would play together outside, it melted my heart kind of a lot!

Susanna was ready to go, not nervous at all!  She wanted to pick out her own outfit, so she wore her new owl heart shirt, knit shorts and her pink tutu.  Drew was super silly when it came to taking a picture.  He kept reminding me that this was not his first day of school but Sue Sue's.  I still got a pretty cute one of him though ;)
One the ride over to the school, we had a talk about how to be polite and listen to their teachers, things we had talked about the night before but just for a reminder, and when we pulled up to the carpool line, Susanna said "Bye, Mom!"  I helped her get out and she just grabbed Ms. Carla's hand and walked on in with Drew.  I didn't even cry!  I kind of felt like something must be wrong with me.  But I knew she was ready and had that good big brother of hers with her, so maybe thats why I was more ok with this than when Drew started.  Drew's teacher told me at the end of the day that he kept asking her if he should check on Susanna to make sure she wasn't crying.  I'm so happy that he was concerned for her.  Since then, every day they have gone together they both tell me they played outside with each other.  I secretly hope they always look out for one another at school, I'm pretty glad they are only 1 year apart academically.  It makes me want to have another one close to Jillian so that she has the same kind of thing...only a little, call me crazy!
While the "big kids" were at school, Jillian and I ran errands.  I get so much more done hauling just 1 kid around!  She has been such a little sweetheart and I love the time alone we have had since school has started.
When it was time to pick them up, I could see Susanna playing on the playground from where I was parked and it just me my mama-heart get so big!  She looked so grown up.  Then she spotted me and ran to the door!  She has told me since about her new friend Zoe and it is a relief to know she has made new friends (not that I didn't think she would, but still).  That night we had our first annual Back-to-School dinner.  Mike picked up pizza on his way home from work and Drew said it was his favorite part of the day.

I wrote them little notes on their construction paper place mats but they were way more interested in their place card hand prints.

Doesn't Drew look so grown up in this one?  I cannot believe it sometimes.  Good times!  Here's to a great 2014-2015 school year!
