Yesterday morning at about 8:30, I finally started having contractions worth timing (7-9 minutes apart and beginning to hurt). Mike and I cleaned up around the house and decided to head to Baton Rouge to go walk around the mall. On our way, they started getting worse. I was having a hard time breathing and because I have been worried that I would not really know when to go to the hospital, we decided to just go and have them check me. We got there at about 3:30 and found out that I was already dilated 6-7 cm. They brought me upstairs to labor & delivery and by this point, I was starting to get a little uneasy b/c it was all going much faster than I had prepared myself for. My contractions got closer together and I had about 3 pretty painful ones so they went ahead and gave me my epidural. Once it kicked in (at about 4:15), the doctor on call came in to check me, said I was 7 cm, and broke my water. I started getting upset by this point because my parents were still a little over an hour away. Literally, not even 5 minutes after he broke my water, I could feel pressure down there so the nurse checked me again and said I was dilated to 10! However, because I was relaxed and feeling no pain and because the baby's heart rate was steady, there was no need to hurry to start pushing. My parents got to the hospital by about 5:00 and I started pushing at 5:20. Our precious little man was born almost exactly 2 hours later at 7:25 pm!
It was quite a day! I am a lucky girl to have had such a relatively quick & uncomplicated pregnancy & delivery. I have a beautiful, healthy baby boy, and a wonderful husband who did such a great job encouraging me and coaching me through it all. It has been worth it in absolutely every way!
As far as names, we have decided on Drew but we are still talking about a middle name. As soon as we know, you will know!
Here are a few more pictures I took today. He has a full head of hair and it is so crazy because his strands are brown but he has blonde strands mixed in. As you can tell, he looks just like his daddy! His mouth is shaped just like his cousin Liddy's (Mike's sister's daughter). The only thing he has inherited from me, as far as I can tell right now, is his lack of booty, poor baby!

I have to say, I think we made a pretty gorgeous kid! I love him so much more than I imagined I would! We can't wait to get to introduce him to everyone! We get to head home tomorrow so come visit us!
