up!

Every year, our parish (county) hosts a hot air balloon festival.  We always know its coming because weeks before, they are out flying around, practicing for the race, and each year we wake up bright and early the Saturday morning of the festival, get donuts and drive around watching them fly!  This year was no exception...and they did not disappoint.  The route changes each time and isn't announced ahead of time, I assume to avoid giving anyone an advantage, but this year, they were landing right behind the movie theatre...a 1/2 mile from our neighborhood!  As soon as we pulled out of the driveway, we could see about 7 in the air.  We parked behind a restaurant near the theater, opened up the back of our vehicle, ate our donuts and orange juice, and enjoyed the view!

 excuse our ragamuffin kids...we literally rolled out of bed and got in the car...but the love it every time...its become such a fun tradition!

packing them up once they deflate is quite a production but these pros have it down and they are actually really quick about it.

I love watching them!  Before, I really never had a desire to go up in one, and I'm sure I'd still be hesitant...but they really look like they are just floating in the air, which has to be a cool feeling...I'll just be honest and say its pretty tempting!

It was a gorgeous day, not too hot or humid, and quite a nice way to start a weekend off!  'Til next year!
