end of summer/school prep

I cannot believe the summer is already coming to a close.  At least, it is here in Louisiana.  Have I said that already?  I feel like I've been saying that a lot lately.  It has been such a nice few months of being with the kids all day, doing fun things, spending time with family...but I have to admit, I am getting pretty excited for school to start!  Drew is going to be in kindergarten and I kind of can't wrap my head around that little fact...although I am really excited for him and know that he is ready.
We have one last hoorah before we seriously get into the swing of school and I am looking forward to that time with the kids...it seems like perfect timing because when we get back we start full force!  I took the kids shopping for school supplies.  Drew had a pretty big list (plus a $10 supply fee...what the?!?) and Susanna only needed a few items since her list for preschool is much shorter and she can use her pencil box and scissors from last year.  I used to LOVE going school supply shopping when I was a kid.  There was something about it that made me feel like I was starting fresh!  Drew and Susanna were only kind of interested.  I tried to make it fun and let them pick out specific things they would be excited about but in reality, they were more excited about stopping by the Skylanders stuff to see the action figures. Drew even wanted me to take a picture...(and we didn't buy it or anything, he just wanted a picture!)

I tried to get a picture of them with their school supplies but they weren't too into it...I guess my excitement isn't their excitement ;) at least not yet anyway!

We are all set with school uniforms and Susanna got a few new outfits too.  I feel pretty confident that we are ready to go and I am really excited for this next little chapter!

Lets gets a look at my handy-dandy folder in my planner that keeps all these important school supply lists right at my finger tips!

And is it selfish to say that underneath it all, I am really excited school is starting because that means autumn is around the corner?!  My favorite season!
