Easter was so low-key this year, which we really enjoyed. My parents were in Oregon visiting my brother and since Mike's parents are serving a mission in Russia, we didn't get together with family. We just stayed home! The kids were so excited to check out their treats from the Easter bunny, I attempted homemade cinnamon rolls which only came out ok...I can't do dough, we had the missionaries over for dinner and taught them all about paquing eggs, Drew and Susanna played in the rain, and we watched General Conference.
The kids colored during the morning session while Mike and I listened to the amazing talks. This was my favorite of the whole weekend and one of my favorite messages ever. (I plan to post more of my thoughts on this talk later but you have any, please share!)
We tried to get a family picture before it started to rain...it didn't happen so we just decided to be silly!
It was a beautiful day in that we truly felt the spirit with us (and I speak for Mike and I) as we cherished the time with our children and took seriously the messages of our church leaders. Preparing for Easter throughout the week was good for me, rejuvenating to my spirit, and was inspiring to say the least. I have felt so much more closely the love of my Savior and Father in Heaven, the love of my family, and the awe and gratitude of that sweet sacrifice that started in Gethsemane, seemingly ending on the cross, only to have hope restored on the Third day with the appearance of our resurrected Lord to Mary at the tomb. What a beautiful testimony that He loves us all.
