Easter Week Activities: Nights 5 & 6

This week has been FILLED to the max with things going on and Thursday and Friday nights did not end with grand easter-filled activities buuuuut because we spent a lot of time in the car, we did get some good conversations going.  On Thursday we had our good friends, the Garners, over to spend the night.  They have been visiting family down here this week and we were able to spend a lot of great time with them and their 2 girls, who are about our girls' ages, so it was really fun!  I had grand plans to make unleavened bread and discuss the Last Supper, with our kids.  Mike ordered boiled crawfish, the kids spent the whole afternoon and evening going in and out of doors playing their little hearts out, and the adults were able to catch up on life and talk about our young single adult days!  We even skipped soccer practice, so it is no surprise that that unleavened bread didn't happen...too bad it couldn't just make itself!  However, that night we did watch this video of the Last Supper and talked about how Christ suffered for the sins of the world in the Garden of Gethsemane.  This is such a hard concept for children to grasp (heck, its hard for adults to grasp!) but it was neat to be able to watch and bear testimony of our Savior's love for all of us.

On Friday, we spent the morning playing and visiting some more, I ran to a quick meeting, and then we tidied up the house because we were heading to Tim's parents' house for an egg hunt (our only egg hunt this Easter!).  With buckets full of filled eggs to find, we drove over there, and on the way all 3 kiddos fell asleep!  We were able to visit with other friends we hadn't seen in a while and it was such a nice day.  We came home with way more candy than we brought and I've had way too many receese's peanut butter cups these last few days.  The kids had a blast and did not want to leave!

We got home after bed time so we took quick baths and watched a video (can't find it now) about the crucifixion.  I was afraid it would be a little too upsetting for the kids.  Drew handled it well but I could tell he was sad about it.  Susanna whispered, "I don't want to die on the cross.  I'd cry for my mom."  That made me heart wrench.  My plan was to stop the video after that part but then thought maybe watching the happy ending would make their little minds and hearts feel more peaceful right before bed time!

Anyway, my intentions of more hands-on activities with these stories were good, they just didn't happen!  But I can say that our time was well spent and that is so important!

On a different note, when Mike went in to get Jillian out of bed this morning, he ran to get me because she was sitting up in her crib!  I know this might not seem like a big deal for a 13 month-old but it is the 1st time we have ever woken up to find her like this.  She is always laying down when we go in her room in the mornings.  Aaaaand she has been getting on all fours this week and rocking back and forth on her knees...we are crossing our fingers (and baby-proofing EVERYTHING) because we might have a crawler SOON!  No pressure, Jill ;)
