a day home from work
I decided not to go into work today. Drew had a better night than the one before but he was still feeling bad when I woke up this morning so I just called in "sick (baby)". Mrs. Jerry, our school secretary was so sweet and told me I was making the right choice :) It is amazing to me what I can get done when I don't have to go to work. I actually made breakfast this morning. Usually if I make breakfast, its for dinner. Drew stayed awake until about 10:00 am and has been sleeping for a few hours now. I know he must be totally exhausted. I have washed dishes, done some clothes, and worked on a PowerPoint on the principles of government while "watching" Confessions of a Shopaholic and Julie & Julia on Netflix. I feel like taking a nap but while I'm home, I really need to vacuum and wash the sheets (spit up/baby tylenol). It's not a glamorous day but I LOVE being home! All you moms who get to stay home every day, be thankful! Don't get me wrong, I like being financially stable but I keep telling Mike that when he gets into grad-school or whatever he decides to do after undergrad, we will be poor and live on student loans b/c it is soooo worth it!

I am so glad that you were able to stay home with your little one today. And don't worry I feel SO blessed to be able to stay home with mine. Thanks for the reminder though. :) I hope Drew gets feeling better soon. Kaia has an ear infection right now too. They are NO fun.
Thanks for the post. I'm glad you were able to stay home for a special day with Drew. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to get to spend so much quality time with my baby... I should take advantage of it better! Instead of wondering when she'll fall asleep so I can get some stuff done I should savor the opportunity to snuggle with my sweetie! And when she is asleep, I should relish the fact that I can do whatever I want and not be tied down to a work schedule. Being poor isn't such a big deal, especially when we have so many things to be grateful for. This is why we have blogs... to uplift each other :)
When Mike does finish his undergrad and you can stay at home, you are gonna be one accomplished and happy woman!
