Solutions!

I'm getting a lot of feed back from my earlier post and I'm so grateful for good friends who are willing to share their stories and help me out! Keep 'em coming! So I called Drew's pediatrician to see what she thought. I have been advised to feed him when he wakes up in the middle of the night until he is 6 months but to go ahead and start getting him used to going to sleep on his own...so basically she recommended a combination of what people have been telling me...
My mom will be here so she can help me on my first night of trying to let him put himself to bed...I do love rocking him to sleep though so I am a little sad about this and I'm worried it will be hard but I know I will appreciate it in the long run! Wish us luck tonight! And thanks to all who have commented so far!

I didn't look at the other comments... but it's possible he might be teething! Halle started around 4.5-5 months. You could try getting some teething tablets and see if those help.

My lifesaver: BABYWISE! I know its very controversial but I'd do it again and AGAIN! Its even written by doctors and I swear by it. I even talked to my doctor about it (2 diff pediatricians) who weren't totally opposed to it either. I know every mom feels differently about this kind of thing but Boston was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks and was a GREAT napper/sleeper and GREAT eater and still is. Anyway, that's what worked for me, so I thought I'd share.

Good luck! I guess by now you have succeeded since it's 10:30. Thank goodness for your mom being such a big help. It sounds like you got good advise from your Ped. Putting him to bed when he's content and a little drowsy is good. I can put Afton down after I've nursed and burped her and she won't fuss at all. She has her nights because of teething, ear infections, stuffy nose, etc... but if she's not going through anything dreadful, she sleeps from 7pm to 8am sometimes later. Oatmeal is a good thing to feed him for his last meal before bed. It will keep him full longer.
