October 2014 General Conference

October General Conference weekend is always one of my favorite weekends of the year.  It finally seems like Fall to me when conference rolls around and we get to hear from our church leaders, which is an opportunity I love and cherish.  This was the second year in a row that we went to the Red Stick Farmers' Market as our little conference weekend tradition.  This is such a fun farmers' market...Mike and I went more often when we didn't have kids but I still love going, especially with our kids!  When we got home, Drew said, "that was so fun!"  The weather was perfect, 68 degrees and sunny with a cool breeze...it really did feel like fall.  We had breakfast, the kids bought cucumbers and bell peppers, Drew picked out a pumpkin (which the lady told me I should definitely cook with because it is the type that is really so good...I shall try it!), and Susanna picked out some sunflowers for our table!

Jillian's face in this picture kills me!

We came home and took naps after lunch and then Mike and the kids played outside for a LOOOOONG time in the beautiful weather while I got things ready around the house for Sunday.  I didn't want to have to do a whole lot but had a lot to do!  Mike and I stayed up late catching up on laundry, football, and sessions of Conference that we had missed during the day.
We slept late this morning, got up to make pancakes, and then tidied up so we could sit down as a family to listen to the messages of the Sunday morning session.
Before it started, I found them like this...watching Netflix...little zombies!

Most of the crafts ended up unfinished, the candy never got old, and the poster was a pretty good hit.

In the end, it looked something like this...which is ok!

Jillian napped through most but for the last 2 talks, she never took her eyes off of the TV!  Cute girl...
Once we had lunch and Susanna napped, Drew, Mike and I played soccer outside in the wonderful weather.  I think it is supposed to get hotter this week so our 75 degree glory will be over for a while but this weekend has really been such a pretty one and I love feeling spiritually uplifted spending time with my sweet family and listening to inspired talks...it reminds me of what is most important and I am so grateful for my knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Happy October!
