Mike's parents recently left the good ole' USA and headed to Russia on a mission for our church. They had been planning on serving a mission once his dad retired and so when that time came last December, they put in their paperwork. We found out in January that they were assigned to Russia and boy did the 9 months until they were to leave come FAST! They sold their house and many of their belongings in May, traveled from Idaho, Utah and Louisiana, with a 2 week trip to Palmyra, NY for a mini-mission stuck in there as well. After we all went to Utah in August, they came back with us for a week. The Thursday before they left, we had Aunt Toni and some of her crew come over for a little good-bye get-together...with ice cream, of course!
check out the cute photo bomber in the back ;)
This would have been our last time to see them since they spent their last night with Kevin and Alissa so we got up bright and early Saturday to see them off at the airport. The kids and I made a poster to bring while Mike was at work!
Isn't she the sweetest little artist you've ever seen?
Showing Honey her creation...
Paw Paw and the girls...
This one of he and Drew is my favorite from the day. He asked Drew to give him a hug that would last 2 whole years and Drew definitely did...I think he actually understood what was going on and was so sweet about it.
Honey and the kiddos...they will be much bigger next time she's here to take a picture with them!
Hugging good-bye!
Mike and his dad!
...and off they went! We all held it together remarkably well! Susanna cried, as usual, when Honey left but we are all used to that. And that was it, good-bye for us, they didn't leave the States for another 3 weeks so we were able to Skype and FaceTime through out that time. I think it was actually better that we kind of parted earlier, because it didn't feel like they were officially leaving yet...because they weren't! More to come...
