Buddy's Candy Cane Breakfast!

Yesterday morning was the first of December and that is when Buddy is supposed to show up, right?  Can't start slacking on day 1!  So he made us breakfast!  The idea was not original, I got it here.  I did change it up a little to make it our own.

We already had our elf and I had gotten the plates and cups from Wal-Mart last year but all of the other decorations are from Wal-Mart this year.  The muffins were a recipe I had pinned way back when and can be found here.  They are AWESOME by the way, I've eaten way too many!
He also brought us powdered donuts, which weren't set up in time for the actual breakfast, my kids wake up pretty early, so we just ate them out of the bag.
To make the focus more about Jesus Christ than about the fun of it, Buddy is holding Baby Jesus from our Little Peoples nativity set.  He also left the kids a note, reminding them of why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.  He also told them that he would be leaving scripture verses for us every day to read before bed.  These will also help us remember the Savior every day this Christmas season.  I had seen many ideas on Pinterest of how to have a Christ-centered Christmas but I was afraid that if I tried to do too many "traditions", I'd never be able to keep up.  This one kind of knocks out 2 with one stone and I think it will work out wonderfully.
He gave us our first verse at breakfast and to make sure we read it, once we are done, we will put each slip of paper in our advent calendar.  The verses for each day are already printed out.  I found the verses from this site but I'm not using the same format.  See, I'm really so unoriginal, its not even funny!  I told Mike that Pinterest needs to win an award for best website EVER on planet Earth (except for this one, of course!)
Lastly, here are the cute faces of Drew and Susanna as they enjoyed their breakfast!  They make the holidays so fun for me!  I can only hope that they grow up remembering me for the fun things I try to do and not for all the times I fuss at them!

Sorry for the quality of pictures, I use my iPhone camera as my actual camera and sometimes we have lighting issues!  And, did you notice that I FINALLY figured out how to add links in my blog text?  I feel so old and out of date when it comes to this thing, I cannot even tell you.  My next goal is to start using my actual camera more so that my pictures are prettier.  But hey, I'm not perfect, my blog is not perfect, and I my 2 year old just figured out how to get out of her crib apparently because she just walked into my room!  Time for a big girl bed?  I think that post is in the near future!

You are too cute. I think we ALL need to thank pinterest for almost EVERYTHING we do. I swear if I didn't have that thing....love that you combine the elf with Christ. SUCH a good idea.
