lately...

While the rest of the country seems to be getting snowed in, there is nothing but rain in our forecast this week and I am not excited about that on this Monday afternoon.  The week ahead looks really busy for us and rain just complicates things.  I'm sure there is someone out there who is happy for all of it though so I will just keep that in my mind instead of my negative outlook!  We are prepping for Jillian's first birthday day this weekend and while we are keeping it "small" just inviting family and our closest friends, it is consuming a lot of my time.  This past weekend we took pictures with Jane and I snuck this one on my phone.
We got some of all 3 kids to update our frames and to give to family so I am excited to see them!  It was a pretty cold morning but beautiful at the same time!  Jillian LOVED the balloons.  In fact, there were 4 but then she popped 2 pretty much instantly...I'm not even sure we got good pictures with them all.

Susanna started feeling bad Saturday afternoon and we weren't able to leave the house yesterday, she was full on sick but is feeling better today.  It was so gloomy outside though, and we were watching too much TV so we pulled out the paints!  I TRIED to have a little guided painting session with them, asking which colors reminded them of the sun or made them happy, but Susanna wanted pink and Drew want brown so those were their answers no matter how hard I prompted them to pick "sunny", "happy" colors.  At least pink is a happy color...

check out those natural highlights and lashes...i'm so jealous!
It turned into kind of a painting fiasco with painted hands, eyebrows, and some on their clothes.  And...every time we get the paints out, my pictures look the same...mixed up colors, pjs, and crazy hair!  The more I thought about it though, we tend to paint on yucky days when we haven't and don't plan on leaving the house...and on days like that, we go to bed looking exactly how we did when we woke up!
Once painting got old, I brought our Easter decorations down from the attic.  They are now strewn all over our living room!  I love how kids are entertained by the simplest things, it makes days like these a little easier on this mama.
