Louisiana "Snow"

The weather has been crazy here over the past few weeks and I'm honestly ready for some warmer weather.  Let me clarify.  I am NOT ready for summer!  Just warmer days...
But our snow days were pretty fun and I especially liked that Mike got to stay home for 3 days because of the conditions.
We didn't actually get snow.  It rained a lot and was 30 degrees and below but we got mostly sleet/tiny ice rain balls.  It was the weirdest thing, really.  The ice stayed on the ground for a few days, we had a few little icicles hanging from the house and ice on our cars but it was not enough to really do much with.
The kids loved it.  We aren't really equipped with the warmest clothing because it hardly ever gets this way in the south but we layered quite a bit.  Both kids would have rather been barefoot and in their jammies the whole time.  And for the most part, they were...I had to force on socks and shoes!

This picture was of the night before, when the weather started getting really cold and super rainy.  They were quite content like this watching The Little Mermaid.
We made play dough the next day because it was still raining and we stayed in our jammies all day!
This is the best play dough recipe ever!

Drew wanted Mike to help him mold every character from Super Mario Brothers.
Susanna had never really been allowed to play with play dough until today, the child eats everything...but she's growing up now ;)
She stayed in these jammies for 2 whole days, just for the record.

Drew "helped" me make chocolate chip cookies!
Finally the rain turned into ice and Mike got all bundled up with the kids while the cookies were baking and I was cleaning up inside.  Susanna ate plenty of ice before we could really stop her.  She LOVED the whole experience.  This little girl is full of curiosity and happiness, let me tell you!

She was showing me the ice on her "glubs", which just looked like dirt to me, I cringe thinking of how many times that finger went in her mouth!
Cuties!
Once it got dark and too cold, they all came in and Drew wanted to play "go fish"
The next morning, Mike went out to check on things and Susanna followed, barefoot and all.  Aren't they sweet?!
The night before, Mike had place a plate outside to collect the "snow".  That morning it was solid ice.  The kids wanted to bring it in and hold it/eat it.  We didn't let them really put their mouths on it!  I'm pretty sure it is still in my freezer.

Look at these sillies!
Out we went again to slip and slide on the ice.  All of this on the ground had melted and then refroze into sheets of ice.  Drew did not want to put on pants...but at least he didn't refuse the hood on his coat!  It was freezing!
Since then it has ranged anywhere from 29-68 degrees around here.  It has been sunny one day and rainy the next.  This past Sunday was a gorgeous day, we went out and rode bikes, walked the neighborhood and ate popsicles.  Today it is overcast, misty and cold again.  What is the deal?!  We liked our snow days but we are ready for spring!

(Posting about Valentine's Day and more FHE ideas later!)

It's so fun to see your kids get excited about cold weather! But we know what you mean about being ready for spring. The fun of cold weather wears off pretty quickly!

I have been looking for the perfect playdough recipe, so thanks for sharing! I'm sure I will be trying it out this weekend.

And thanks for the bottles! They just arrived in the mail. It's funny how having something brand new can be so exciting when you're having your third baby!
