My baby is getting too big!! When I look at him, I just wonder where in the world the time has gone?! I brought Drew to his 18 month check up yesterday. It really hit me when his doctor told me that she wouldn't need to see him again until he turns 2! That's only 6 months away, people! Somebody, pinch me :(
I am so grateful for his sweet little self, though. He is a funny, healthy, beautiful boy and I can't be more thankful for anything else than I am for that. Here are his stats...
22 lbs. 9 ozs/10th percentile in weight (he's a little shrimp :)
31 1/2 inches/25th percentile in height (at least he's consistent in this)
18 3/4 inches head circumference/40th percentile
Words he says, only when he wants to, hardly ever on demand, little stinker:
*dunk, ball, basketball, turtle, banana, mama, dada, Hixon (our dog), hot, out, moooo, horse, Dora Dora, peanut butter (only once and it didn't exactly sound like peanut butter), baby, fish, dolphin, pawpaw, yum, peas...
Tricks he can do:
*he dances like crazy and has some awesomely rad moves :)
*throws a ball, with pretty accurate aim
*dunks a ball, with pretty accurate aim, it is kind of amazing
*feeds himself EVERYTHING
*points to people he knows when you ask him where "so n' so" is
*gives lots of kisses, and they are starting to be more closed-liped instead of open-mouthed and slobbery, its cute!
*he climbs on everything...
*then jumps off, thankfully only if he knows we are ready to catch him
*runs really fast
*blows kisses
*knocks on doors
*kicks a ball
*does the hand motions to Popcorn Popping, Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam, The Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider & Snowman
*he mimics everything his daddy does, precious!
*"reads" his books out loud
*climbs out of his crib (not often and only during the day so far)
*he knows where many of his body parts are. He gets tummy, tongue and teeth confused sometimes
*he goes to his crib when he is ready for a nap
*puts toys back where they go (he is getting good at this, it's quite nice)
*sweeps the floor
*drinks out of a sippy. I finally found a type that he will drink out of and I brought all of the others to GoodWill b/c I had about 7 different kinds
*talks on the phone. Mainly Mike's and my mom! He loves this! (and I think they do too :)
Bad Habits:
*he throws EVERYTHING including food, his sippy, books during church, and toys, often hitting people with them
*he doesn't really ask for things he wants, he just grunts, which drives me a little crazy. We're working on communication skills...
*splashes water everywhere when bathing
*still loves his pacifier
He is definitely the joy in our lives and I love watching him grow every day. I'm looking forward to the summer off and the time we will have together, just us! In addition to the grunting, we are working on please and thank-you. We are also hoping to get him sleeping in a toddler bed, since I'll have time to get up with him at night if he wakes up or, more importantly, keep him in his bed during nap time. We'll see how it goes. Either way, we love our little man! He's such a happy, friendly kid and is quite perfect (at least, we think so)!
