Just when I think I'm getting used to living in the country...

A few days before my little brother's wedding, my older brother came to stay with Mike and I. I got home that evening and was sitting at the table when I heard little tapping sounds coming from around the kitchen window. I asked Mike and Sean to tone down the noise a bit to see if I could hear it again...nothing. The next day, I get home and decide I want some ice cream. I reach in the cabinet to get a bowl and this is what I find!

It scared the CRAP out of me! The worst part is, when Mike was taking the pictures, it got out and we never caught it! Unbelievable!

There have also been many evenings when we get home late, pull into the driveway, and see deer in our yard. Lately this has been happening a lot. Last night we saw 5! It was incredible! Mike insists that our freezer will be stocked by the end of deer season which makes me a little sad! I kind of like 'em!

That's not even all of it! Yesterday morning, I was heading out the door, on my way to work. As I opened the door, I saw the backsides of 2 horses running around the corner of my house. Apparently, I startled them but I don't think they were nearly has startled as I was! They were just chillin' by my backdoor eating our grass...which needs mowing anyway so really it would save Mike from having to worry about the yard! I screamed for Mike, he threw on some clothes and by the time I got back from telling the neighbors' their horses had gotten out, he had rounded them up and tied one to the 4-wheeler so they wouldn't get away! It was really impressive. Our neighbor was shocked that he was able to get a hold of them! That's my man! Needless to say...it's been interesting!

wow... kind of makes you lose your appetite for ice cream. I hope the lizard found his way outside!

I can relate! I was pregnant with annabelle in that house and i walking to the kitchen sink and thought the lizard was a snake at first b/c I only saw the head. I jumped up on the kitchen chair. I finally saw it was not a snake and was convinced it had crawled up the drain. My father in-law corrected me on that point--it couldn't have come up the drain. I asked our bug man to spray for the lizards but he said that there was nothing he could do.

Even in our house in a less country setting I found a lizard in the tub right before I gave Joseph a bath. I had to catch it myself--AH! (Sometimes I find dead ones-always nice--um not really.) Lately, I have been letting them in after I take the trash out at night. I have learned to just live with it, but still get jumpy just in case it is a snake or mouse.
