Back to Life!

It has been an interesting week, to say the least. After evacuating to Marksville to get away from Gustav, we ended up having to evacuate to Jennings! Turns out we lost power in north LA but not southwest. With no electricity or AC, we relaxed out on the back patio and played dominos til all hours of the night! It was really fun! I felt like I lived back in my grandparents' time; living life without the "necessities" we enjoy today, but it forced us to do things together as a famliy that we just don't do enough of!

Jennings was supposed to evacuate but ended up not even losing power, which worked for us because any excuse to go to my mom and dad's is fine with me! Here are a few pictures we snapped on our way from Marksville to Jennings.

The week sort of turned into a little vacation for us. We got to sleep late, hang out with family, no work or school, etc. Mrs. Donna, Andy, Alicia, and Emily came to stay for a few days and left once their power came back on. Baby Matthew was there because my mom is keeping him while Billy and Jess are on a cruise. My Aunt Kathy and Uncle Wade came in for the weekend because of a funeral but took us all out to eat. We had a wonderful time! I went a little picture crazy while I gave the baby a bath! Isn't he so cute?!

We had a wonderful time with everyone. We soooooo did not want to come back to a house to straighten and fridge to clean out, school or work but, hey, what are you gonna do? We ran to the store and stood in line outside for 10 minutes because they were only letting a few people in at a time. We only got the necessary items...keeping an eye on Ike! Are you ready for a sequel? UGH!
